Owning a Car in Malaysia as an Expat

Upon posting my blog about the guidelines in buying second hand car in Malaysia , I received a lot of requests in my personal email and social media accounts about the specific process of registering a car to an expat who is staying in the country. From my own understanding, a foreigner who is staying in Malaysia with LTSVP, LTVP, Spouse Visa, Employment Pass, Work Endorsement Pass, Dependent Pass, Student Pass and so on are technically categorized as an expat unless the person holds a Permanent Resident status in Malaysia. Being an expat in this country, we need to meet the necessary financial requirements before  we own a property like house and lot. But for owning a car, there should not be an issue. This is how I registered the car to my name as an expat. Here is the process that I went through: I was accompanied by my agent to appear at the Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ) Johor Bahru office to personally submit the necessary requirements for transferrin

Discovering Coron, Palawan, Philippines

Image
Wonderful Island of Coron, Palawan, Philippines for everyone to explore As the month of March ends, I remembered a place in the Philippines where my wife and I took our honeymoon after our wedding. The place is known as Coron. This place belongs to the Calamaines Group of Islands and is located in the Northern part of Palawan, Philippines' southwestern border.  The place is really blessed with beautiful islands and white beaches, limestone cliffs, and wonderful people.  This island is being protected by Tagbanua Tribe Community in Coron I knew that the adventure in this Island would be exciting because the place was new to me and the place has been widely known as one of the highly recommended tourist attractions in the country. Straight from the Busuanga Airport, we were sent to our hotel through a shuttle service which took about an hour. On the way to the hotel, we had passed by a semi set-up of New Zealand farm setting of cows in the green fields. Our tour g

Car Tinting is a Necessity in Malaysia

Image
As to my settlement here in Malaysia, I found out something useful not only to me as a future father, but also something helpful to all folks out there owning either a brand new or second hand car. When I took my car for testing,  the first thing I noticed was the car air-con. I was a bit shocked as I was driving the car in high level air-con for about 25 minutes, yet I was still sweating inside the car. You might question me, suspecting that the car air-con is not working well. However, the air-con is doing great. So I asked Steven Goh, my trusted car salesman friend about this and he told me about TINT .  So I asked him again about "tint". Like how on earth tinting has to do with air-conditioning inside a car? Because for me, all I know about car tinting is designing the style of your car. He explained to me a lot of things and recommended me to see a friend of his named Ivvy Yu from this certain tinting accessory shop within Johor Jaya. When I took the car

Encountering Boracay Island in the Philippines

Image
Boracay , otherwise known as "Bora", is famous not only among Filipinos, but also with other foreign nationals such as the European countries, USA, Russia, and around Asia. Souvenirs from Boracay. Photo by Zougarty Boracay is a nice place to encounter. It is a tropical paradise with 4 kilometers powdered white sand surrounded by crystal clear water. This tourism destination has been voted as one of the best beaches in the world. Boracay is approximately 7 kilometers long and has several remote beaches around the island. My wife and I had the chance to encounter this paradise island when she booked a promo last June 2015 through this airline with accommodation. At first, I was hesitant because it was just another form of spending money. But when she explained to me, I was convinced to take the trip. And now, I can't believe I'm writing this article. But anyway, just to share our experience, especially on the things that must be taken into consideration

Experiencing Melaka

Image
"Melaka" or "Malacca" is the same, but for me, I will address this as Melaka following how it is known in Malaysia. Melaka is known as one of the World Heritage sites by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization otherwise known as UNESCO. This city comprises approximately 214.6 ha  in two protected areas within the city's conservation zone demarcated by Melaka River and the second area is the Historic Residence and Commercial Zone comprising 600 shop houses, commercial and residential buildings. This city is really a wonderful place to experience different historical attractions, food, museums, activities, animal encounters and a lot more. For me, I will highlight my trip in this city starting with the famous Melaka River Cruise. I visited this after Chinese New Year together with my wife and father in-law and this was one of the most memorable experiences I had in this trip. I was able to visit and had a grasp about

Guidelines in Buying A Second Hand Car in Malaysia

Image
Wide road of Malaysia In my earlier post, I mentioned that transportation here in Malaysia is really a necessity. This is due to the fast paced development that is booming in every corner of the famous cities within the different districts of Malaysia. In Johor Bahru alone, the highways are busy with different types of cars passing to and from different corners within the various business district areas like Johor Bahru, Pasir Gudang, Setia Tropica, City Square, Iskandar, Senai, Kota Tinggi, Kluang, Batu Pahat, Kulai and a lot more. Hence, one has to adapt with the fast paced life here. You must have your own transport to deal with your business life or shall we say, routine. You cannot survive if you are only depending on public transport, especially when your job is located about 10 km away from where you are staying. When applying for a job, most employers will ask if you have transport. This is important, especially when you are in the teaching, hospitality, engine
